Old Man Markley Goes Down Side Up’ With “Newgrass” Album Due out March 5th

Los Angeles based bluegrass punks Old Man Markley will release their sophomore album, Down Side Up, on March 5th via Fat Wreck Chords.  The septet’s full-length follow-up to 2011’s critically acclaimed debut Guts n’ Teeth was produced by NOFX frontman Fat Mike, and will be available for pre-order soon.

Old Man Markley are not your run-of-the-mill band.  They’re not a traditional bluegrass band, nor are they a typical punk band.  Instead, the band meld elements of both styles into a cross-pollinated “newgrass” amalgam that has resulted in a boot stomping good time for fans around the world.
Rounded out by Johnny Carey (vocals, guitar), Annie DeTemple (autoharp, vocals), Joey Garibaldi (bass, vocals), Jeff Fuller (drums), Ryan Markley (washboard), John Rosen (banjo, vocals) and Katie Weed (fiddle, vocals), Old Man Markley roared onto the scene in 2010. Their unique blend of punk rock sensibilities, ear for pop melodies and deeply rooted love for bluegrass caught the ear of Fat Wreck Chords, who released OMM’s debut album,Guts n’ Teeth, in 2011.  Over the next few years, the band found themselves scootin boots on stage with the likes of Flogging Molly, Bad Religion, The Reverend Horton Heat, NOFX, The Descendents and Against Me!.

A salute to Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd is one of the great rock bands of all time. As a way to homage to their music, is featuring the full length directors cut of Pink Floyd Live at Pompeii, and a FREE downloadable original Pink Floyd poster that is inspired by several of Pink Floyd’s albums.

Pink Floyd were an English rock band that achieved international success with their progressive and psychedelic music. Distinguished by their use of philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, and elaborate live shows, they are one of the most commercially successful and musically influential groups in the history of popular music.

Founded in 1965, the group originally consisted of university students Roger WatersNick MasonRichard Wright and Syd Barrett. They first gained popularity performing in London’s underground music scene during the late 1960s, and under Barrett’s creative leadership they released two charting singles and a successful début album. David Gilmour joined as a fifth member in December 1967, and Barrett left the band in April 1968 due to his deteriorating mental health. After Barrett’s departure, Waters became their primary songwriter and lyricist. With Waters, Mason, Wright and Gilmour, Pink Floyd achieved critical and commercial success with the concept albums The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) and The Wall (1979).

Wright left the group in 1979, followed by Waters in 1985. Gilmour and Mason continued as Pink Floyd and Wright subsequently joined them as a paid musician. They continued to record and tour through 1994; two more albums followed, A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) and The Division Bell (1994). They have sold more than 250 million albums worldwide, including 74.5 million certified units in the United States. They were inducted into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005.
